The walking group is there to provide a social environment in which members can get a little exercise and explore the local area.
We meet once a month, on the third Friday, at different meeting points but generally at 10am. We usually travel to a start point for the walk and will have a coffee before we proceed to follow our route. Generally the walk is around two hours in duration including a stop for lunch and people bring a packed lunch.
The walks are often gentle and leisurely to cater for all abilities. We finish at a point close to transport links. Everyone is welcome! We usually have between 8 and 10 people and there is no need for joining, as long as you are a u3a member just sign up at the meeting or contact Rob W .

For those who feel that 3-4 miles walking is too short there is a new Long Walks group.
Walks in Autumn
The walking group has two walks in this quarter. There has been a noticeable lack of support for the walking group and group size has dropped to 3 or 4 walkers plus the leader. There are understandable reasons for this of course, but the effort involved in planning and leading a walk can take up to two days causing the group leaders to consider whether the group is still viable. So we hope this quarter will offer some encouragement to join us and enjoy the riverside and the city.
In the last quarter there were three walks planned but circumstances meant that we had to cancel one. The two walks that went ahead were Dukes River to Syon Park and Charing Cross to Brompton Cemetery. Both walks offered 3-4 miles of walking in nice surroundings and an optional short walk around the lovely Brompton Cemetery.
