We’re exploring a relaxed new twist on the Film Group — a chance to enjoy a Tuesday morning Silver Screen showing at the Richmond Odeon, followed by a friendly chat over coffee.
It’s simple, sociable, and a nice way to spend a morning with familiar faces.
What’s involved
We meet in Richmond, watch whatever film is showing that week, and then wander to a nearby café for a gentle discussion. Silver Screen films are always current releases, and the choice is made for us — which adds a bit of surprise to each outing.
The Silver Screen ticket price is usually £2–£3, and of course there’s the cost of a drink afterwards. Travel to Richmond is needed, but many members already know the route well.
What to expect
- A relaxed cinema trip with U3A friends
- A chance to see films you might not normally choose
- A friendly chat afterwards — nothing formal, just sharing thoughts
- A pleasant social outing beyond the usual meeting room
If you’re interested, it helps to be happy with:
- coming along regularly (life happens, of course)
- watching whatever film is on that week
- covering the small costs involved
How often we meet
We’ll start with monthly outings, and if people enjoy it, we may move to fortnightly.
